9/9/09 Weddings and Bridal Showers
09/09/09 came and went, and I want to hear about all of the weddings! It was my brother’s birthday (not his ninth), so I was celebrating with him while couples around the country were saying their vows at…99 cent stores?! Yes!
There’s the link in case you didn’t believe me! I would have never thought of it.
It’s been a big week in my fam; we also had my sister’s baby shower. The baby is due on Halloween. I’m not kidding. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so I want to hear about those weddings, too. Any masquerades?! The baby shower made me think of wedding showers, of course, so I wanted to check in with my brides on that front. I was reading on a wedding forum recently that a bride didn’t know if it was a good idea to invite some friends to her shower and bachelorette party and not the wedding. No. No, this is not a good idea. So in case my brides were wondering…don’t do that.
Showers are fun, and as corny as they can be, I love the games. We played “wedding pictionary” at mine. Have you heard any fun shower games?
I just found this blog again! I had the another site for it in my feed reader and noticed I hadn’t seen any new postings and voila, here they are!
Anyway, I wanted to comment on the Halloween weddings. Dave and Lisa (Heather knows them) are going to his cousin’s wedding on Halloween. It’s a costume party! Everyone is dressing up and the bridesmaids are supposed to be sexy farm animals. How do you dress up as a sexy farm animal?!? I don’t know, but I know that I cannot wait to see the pictures! Dave and Lisa are going as a plug and a socket. This is reminding me that I need a costume idea…
Dumb question. Is this a coupels shower? Most guys don’t go to the bridal shower.Yes, it is two separate gifts. Bridal shower gifts have special meaning to the bride or something that she can use for herself. You can also get something off the registry. The choice is yours.I often give a wedding time capsule as a gift because it is something so different. And it is something they can share with their families before the wedding. Just a bunch of fun and still practical. As for a wedding gift you need to choose something off their registry. These are items that they have chosen because they will use them as a couple.
Okay so a lot of people are sinyag the bridal shower gift is just for the bride, but it’s usually not. That would be the gift for the bachelorette party. Nowadays, the bridal shower involves both bride and groom, and they register for gifts at a couple stores. The wedding gift is separate, and money is usually most appreciated, because it helps cover the costs of the wedding and/or honeymoon. The bridal shower gifts are typically for the home, whether it be kitchenware, lamps, bedset, etc. Whatever you do, don’t give sexy gifts at the bridal shower, usually the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and other family are there!
