Groom cake trends at Heather’s Glen

Chocolate ice cream.  Chocolate cake pieces.  Chocolate-coated strawberry hearts.  Swirls of strawberry sauce.  Chocolate icing.

Yum, right?  It’s Blue Bell’s new flavor, “groom’s cake” and it’s soooo good!  Warning:  do not ingest if you are dieting before the wedding.  It’s perfect right now in Houston when it’s so hot out, though!  My husband and I recently grabbed a pint and two spoons and were instantly in heaven.  Blue Bell claims that people have been already asking to serve it at their weddings!

The groom’s cake is a yummy Southern tradition.  At most weddings in the south you will see, next to a beautiful bride’s cake, a smaller, more whimsically decorated, and usually chocolate-flavored cake representing the groom.  The groom’s cake is a great place in a wedding to display how the couple met (we’ve seen Starbucks cakes), or a groom’s favorite sports team or college.  I recently went to a wedding in June and the groom’s cake was the Star Trek Enterprise!  Very life-like…except in size, of course.

Please leave your comments and let us know the most unique or interesting groom’s cake you’ve ever seen!  Or, let us know what your groom’s cake was and why.

Quality wedding ceremony cakes may make a marriage ceremony more memorable, in particular simply because several couples retain their cakes for a year to celebrate later on.
