I unfortunately had to miss last year’s event, because at 8 months pregnant, I was under strict
doctor’s self’s orders to bedrest as much as I could. (What? My feet hurt, okay?) This year, we were especially excited to be back at Houston NACE Wedding Trends – a fabulous night unveiling all of the industry’s latest and greatest trends.
In the big beautiful gold frame in the top left corner is a bride’s gown made of paper butterflies with our names on them. The incredible paper flower archway we’re standing under shows off a huge wedding trend right now: paper flowers. See that third picture, of the shiny runway with the flowery LOVE sign on a gold backdrop? It was glorious. It certainly inspired me to do something similar and smaller in my daughter’s room. (The flowery letters, not the runway).
This was the speaker, David Caruso, and some snaps of his slideshow. Some exciting trends he discussed: neutral palettes with pops of brights (especially blue, he reported); alternative-style seating (serpentine shown); pop-up hair and makeup stations; and chalk art that can be personalized and washed away with a little soap and water, so as not to conflict with any decorating agreements you may have with your venue.
Just look at these incredible desserts! Cake pops, strawberries swimming in champagne jello, and the tiniest layer and rosette cakes on the tiniest cake plates. Also, check out those beautiful linens – very on-trend with our intern Brooke’s recent black and gold glamour post.
Look at these ice creams! They were dipped in chocolate and then into the toppings of our choice! What a happy way to end the night.
