Our one-year anniversary came and went! Sigh…I’m officially no longer a newlywed. The traditional first year anniversary gift is paper, and the modern gift is clocks. For those of you celebrating this autumn and winter, here’s the list:
|Anniversary #||Traditional Gift||Modern Gift|
|Third||Leather||Crystal / Glass|
|Fourth||Fruit / Flowers||Appliances|
|Sixth||Candy / Iron||Wood|
|Seventh||Wool / Copper||Desk Sets|
|Eighth||Bronze / Pottery||Linens / Lace|
|Ninth||Pottery / Willow||Leather|
|Tenth||Tin / Aluminum||Diamond Jewelry|
|Twelfth||Silk / Linen||Pearls|
|Thirteenth||Lace||Textiles / Furs|
Get creative with these! At your 45th year, rather than sapphire earrings, what about a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin? Okay, so maybe the earrings would be nice, but gin martinis are, too! For our one-year “paper” gift, I got my husband a Sunday subscription to the New York Times. Today is our third Sunday. I think I’m enjoying the gift a little bit more then he is. Oh well- I can try harder for cotton next year!
Does anyone have any creative anniversary gift ideas?
