Well it is! I just watched the movie Bride Wars. I know, I know- it’s not the best movie ever made, but it’s entertaining, especially if you’re getting married or you work in the wedding biz. That being said (ha!), if you haven’t seen it, it’s about two best girlfriends in NYC, who share a dream of getting married at The Plaza. Both of their dreams are coming to fruition when they get engaged and book their weddings for the next June. Their wedding planner accidentally books them on the same date at The Plaza, and, you guessed it, neither want to budge on moving their date or venue.
I’m not going to say anything else about the plot of the movie, except that it is narrated by the wedding planner (Candace Bergen), and she has this monologue at the end. It makes me want to go back in time and write it in the cards of each of my bridesmaids and give it to them with their bridesmaids gifts.
This is what she said:
“It was quite a wedding, and, as I stood there watching, I realized something I’d forgotten a long time ago. Sometimes in life, there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what. Maybe you’ll find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding. But there’s also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you sometimes better than you know yourself, is the same person who’s been standing besides you all along.”
I told you it was corny! But it made me tear up all the same!
